Colm began his musical studies at a young age, and instantly became enchanted with the sound of the guitar. Dabbling first in many styles, in time he became firmly attached to the classical guitar. A period of study at the Royal Irish Academy of Music with Marion Hyland was followed by travel to Glasgow to study at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Here he completed a masters degree in guitar performance under the tutorship of celebrated Scottish guitarist Allan Neave, graduating with distinction. In 2010 Colm was awarded a scholarship to study at the Istituto Musicale Pareggiato della Valle d’Aosta in Italy, with internationally renowned maestro Lorenzo Micheli.

Colm is an experienced performer having made notable recitals at such venues as the National Concert Hall, Dublin Unitarian Church, St Stephens Church in Glasgow, the Droichead arts centre, and at the RDS where Colm was awarded 1st prize in classical guitar at the 2008 Feis Ceoil. Colm is a very musical performer with a natural sympathy for the expressive capabilities of the classical guitar. Colm Plays a guitar custom made for him by Michael O’Leary in Co. Carlow.
